Performing Artist

With a background that boasts a strong classical pedigree, Trisha is seeking to expand her repertoire to include more challenging work outside of her comfort zone. She began her training in Maine with Bossov Ballet Theater and continued training abroad under the instruction of Alla Sizova, Dimitri Simkin, Irina Trofimova Golovkina, Natalia Papinashvilli, and Vadim Pisarev, ultimately leading to her acceptance into the Vaganova School in St. Petersburg, Russia. Trisha began her career with Houston Ballet after completing her schooling at the Harid Conservatory and Kirov Academy. Trisha’s performance career has included stages all over the world with companies of the likes of Boulder Ballet, Cleveland Ballet, Houston Ballet, and Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami, among others. Now a leading artist with Ballet Counterpointe, Trisha is actively seeking freelance opportunities that broaden her artistic experience

Trisha understands movement, and my choreography in particular, at a different level. Her ability to identify what is essential for peak performance makes her a great repetiteur and coach, one that is vital to my success as an artist. Every choreographer needs a support system like Trisha to help make their vision possible.

Trisha Carter consistently showcases her knack for nonprofit management, fundraising acumen, and fiscal responsibility. Her work at Miami Dance Hub was deeply impressive, and it’s always a pleasure to interact with her in the dance field. I would highly recommend her analytical abilities be incorporated into any cause in our industry.

Repetiteur — Rehearsal Director — Coach

Dance is inherited body-to-body and Trisha embodies this philosophy with her passion for sharing knowledge and expertise. Whether she is teaching, staging, or rehearsing, Trisha seeks to work from a place of coaching forth results, versus exacting performance under pressure. She teaches regularly at universities from coast to coast, like Anderson Anderson and Belhaven, as well as ballet schools and conventions from Florida to California. Success is more rewarding when it is shared and this is the driving force for Trisha’s studio style.

Trisha has staged most of Kevin Jenkins’ major works including Still Waters, Chaplin, C’est la Vie, Falling Light, Farewell My Lovely, Whiplash, Pastoral Symphony, Fortissimo, Duo Voz, and Light in the Mist, among others. She has also been integral to the creation process of newer works like Legacy, Try To Remember, and a large body of phrase material. While more commonly found in the studio alongside Kevin, Trisha has worked on his behalf with: State Street Ballet, Joffrey Ballet School, Indiana University, COCA St. Louis, Ballet Hartford, Belhaven University, Briarwood Ballet, Anderson University, Brenau University, Studio R Ballet, and Goucher College, among others.

I loved Trisha’s classes. I was so fascinated to see how she has applied certain things in her own dancing to give it more depth and body without sacrificing proper technique. I also appreciated her understanding of muscles and their initiation to use other muscles better. Trisha felt like a big sister teaching, correcting, and leading… while being the friend that you love to hang out with!
